Online dating ends in 'rape' of 25-yr-old

GURGAON: Online dating ends in tears for another city woman. The victim has registered a complaint of rape against a man, saying that they met and fell in love online. Later, he married her secretly and refused to make the marriage public after she become pregnant. The city police have lodged an FIR.

The 25-year-old woman, who works in a Udyog Vihar-based company, has lodged a complaint with the Palam Vihar police on Monday. The victim, who is three month pregnant, said she metKaran Sharma, who introduced himself as an engineer, on a matrimonial site.

They eventually met each other and fell in love. The victim told the police that the accused took her to the Sheetla Mata Mandir and married her in secret to prove his love for her. The victim claimed the accused promised to publically solemnize the marriage soon, but backed out on his promise when he learnt that she was pregnant. "We have lodged an FIR against Karan Sharma," said inspector Naresh Kumar, SHO, Palam Vihar police station.
