Google event: What we know about Google’s Nexus 5X and Nexus P so far

That we will see brand new Nexus phones at Google’s San Francisco event happening on September 29 is now certain. Google confirmed as much with a tweet:

Tomorrow's the big day. Tune in at 9am PT (4pm UTC) to hear about what's new from Nexus: https://t.co/a9zueoFEPR pic.twitter.com/3sKcgcKlTx

Here’s what we know about the new phones so far:

Remember how successful the Nexus 5 was when it launched almost two years back? Google wants to go back to the glory days, especially since the Nexus 6 was kind of a damp squib.

It’s pairing up with LG yet again to do a device called the Nexus 5X, which, according to previously leaked images, looks very similar to the original Nexus 5.

According to leaked specs, the Nexus 5X will be a powerful device with a 5.2-inch 1080P display, a Snadragon 808 processor, 3 GB RAM, a 13 megapixel camera, a USB-C port, and a fingerprint sensor. It is said to be priced at $380 for the 16 GB model and $480 for the 32 GB.

But it’s not stopping there: Google’s reportedly going to announce yet another Nexus phone this year. It’s partnering with Huawei to make something called the Nexus P, which, with a 5.7-inch display and a Snapdragon 810 processor, will be a beast. According to Android blog Android Police, the Nexus P will be the higher-end of the two phones, and will be priced at $500 for the 32 GB version.

Both phones will run Android Marshmallow at launch, although we still don’t have a release date for the new operating system.
