2 held with gold, foreign currency at airport

Gandhi International Airport for trying tosmuggle foreign currency and gold, respectively, on Saturday. Interestingly, both had hidden the stash in their rectums. One of them had concealed 1 kg of gold in his rectum.

A passenger coming into Delhi from Bangkok was intercepted on his way out of the airport. Officials spotted him because of his gait. The passenger was questioned about his belongings. Suspecting the gold was in his rectum, the officials began plying him with food and liquids. Finally, the man handed over four gold bars weighing a kilogram and valued at Rs 27.3 lakh to them. TNN

The second passenger was also found to be moving suspiciously. "He was brought in just before he was about to board his flight. His belongings were scanned but nothing was recovered. Then we opened the handle of his trolley," the official said. Seven rolls of currency were found in it, but the officials questioned him further. He then handed over another roll of currency concealed in his rectum.

Money totaling 32,000 euros, equivalent to Rs 26.7 lakh, was found on the second man.
